Over £500 raised by local Neuropsychologist

Dr Annie Hickox, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, has raised over £500 for Headway Darlington & District by giving up alcohol and staying ‘dry’ throughout November.

Having being involved with Headway branches in the past, Annie has witnessed the critical lifeline that Headway provides to the brain injury survivor and their families throughout the various stages of recovery.

Annie told us “Headway helps maintain the benefits of rehabilitation and, in particular, helps the family adjust to the often catastrophic impact that head injury can have on the family system.  As a way of demonstrating gratitude, I am having an alcohol free month.”

Recent research shows that 30 days without alcohol can lead to greater mental clarity and health benefits even for light to moderate drinkers.

Annie was looking  forward to having a sharper brain at the end of the month and, by doing so, raising funds to help those who have more profound and long lasting problems.
