We have a number of services already in place.  We are also piloting numerous clinical services as well as social activities for brain injury survivors and their families.  These services will be rolled out during 2017.

 

 

Group sessions

If you are affected by brain injury or know someone who is, why not come along to your local Headway group?

We currently hold these sessions twice per month (first and 3rd Monday). The sessions provide:

  • The chance to meet with other people with similar issues in a safe, friendly environment.
  • The opportunity to discuss worries or concerns with a brain injury professional
  • Educational sessions to learn more about brain injury and how to cope with cognitive, emotional & behavioural changes
  • Family support

We meet at Mowden Park The Northern Echo Arena, Neasham Rd, Darlington, County Durham DL2 1DL  Contact us to learn more.

Ramblers Group

Our members have started a walking group! Details of the walks will appear on our website when they are confirmed. Alternatively, contact us for details.

Cycling

We have formed links with the Darlington Freewheelers and regularly meet to try out bikes for numerous disabilities! It's lots of fun and great exercise! Don't let your brain injury stop you!

Headway Hub

We are very close to opening a permanent space at The Arena, Darlington, that will have multiple services. To be announced during May 2017!

We will provide a safe and comfortable space for survivors to meet, share experiences, gain support and engage in a range of activities that will develop interests, hobbies, social skills, team work and self-confidence. Activities will be based on the interests of members and may include structured games, arts and crafts, music, drama, IT and relaxation.

The sessions will be run by a variety of trained people who are specialists in their field.

We are the early stages of our development.  However, we have extensive and detailed plans that will deliver multiple services.  The plans include:

  • Centre-based rehabilitation
  • Personal and Social Development
  • External activities
  • Training and Education for individuals and organisations
  • Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Family support programme
  • Outreach Re-enablement Service
  • Specialist Brain Injury Advocacy service
  • Vocational Rehabilitation and Return to work programme where applicable.
